Tomorrow I'm off to Berlin for a week with my girls Dasha and Carina, and I'm totally excited!
We'll travel by train and we'll be staying in our own little apartment in very cool area of Berlin.
My German sucks though, I'll pretend I'm Polish/British.

In the meantime:

- I passed all my courses, yay! The following half year, I'm going to catch up with the rest of my ECTS and thesis and I'll start my Master in Education in February 2010.

- I went shopping with Dennis and we purchased him a brand spanking new wardrobe. We threw out all of his old clothes, and some of mine as well. (I am totally addicted to this whole ritual of buying new and tossing old.)

- I moved around a lot of furniture! I sleep in my old study and study in my old bedroom. The current situation is so much more practical and me and Dennis get to share our evenings behind the computer (since I used to use the computer and study in a different room from him). I cannot wait for you Utrecht crew to come see my place :)

- I went to Ikea and purchased all the necessities for the double study: desks, chairs, cabinets, lamps, a clock, a rug etc. We still need a plant, though. We shall name it Bernard.

- I worked and worked. It is a lot of fun working at a bookshop: in the summer it's very quiet, and there is not much clearing up to do, so while I wait for people to come pay at the counter, I read novels. Thus I have read 'The Bell Jar' and 'Everything is Illuminated'.

Plus I AM LOVING MY HAIR.

This is MY cup at my grandparents house in Poland. I have had it for as long as I can remember, so that would make the cup approximately 20 years old. My grandfather always gave me the nickname 'Deer' or 'Doe' and told me bedtime stories featuring me as a Doe.




This is a picture hanging in my grandparent's living room since my birth. It features nymphs dancing in a circle at night. In the far right corner you can see a few Satyrs checking them out. When I was little I used to be afraid of the Satyrs, especially at night. The image has haunted my memories for a long time. I am thinking of claiming it for my inheritance.



This is a traditional Polish wedding portrait from the forties. It features my great-grandparents. I am named after the lady: that is Marta Stankiewicz the first.

have had a picnic for one of my girls' birthday. And another birthday party in the planning.
A shout-out to my girls Suus, Dasha, Laury and Khazar: congrats on turning 21/22!!

went to a chinese restaurant with said girls and gave lots of gifts and ate so much deep-fried sesame balls that I still feel full.

had my boyfriend turn 22 also, and I still haven't gotten him a present yet. Thinking of taking him shopping. Congrats, Dennis! <3

did buy myself some stuff, mostly dresses, tights and jewelry. And I'm still craving for more! (Black trench-coat, skirts, tops, vintage finds?)

On a completely different note for the JJR fangirls: I am actually planning of writing a JJR fanfic :O With surprisingly little smut :/

Het is een beetje stil aan mijn kant van LiveJournal, niet waar?

Ik weet dat ik in eerste instantie veel foto's had beloofd uit Polen. Hoewel ik een hele leuke week heb gehad (als mensen ernaar vragen, zeg ik ook gewoon dat het leuk was) is er aan het eind een ruzie tussen mijn moeder en oom voorgevallen, wat mij weerhoudt om de foto's te plaatsen. Het was een heel zuur eind aan wat een leuke week had geleken. Als ik dus die foto's terug zie wordt ik er chagerijnig van. Vandaar dat jullie de gefilterde versie, later te zien zullen krijgen.

En verder...

Ga ik een half jaar langer doen over de Bachelor opleiding.
Ik kan namelijk niet tegelijk een thesis schrijven, 3 vakken volgen om mijn ECTS te behalen, werken en een huishouden runnen. In één blok.
Dan ga ik dood. Ik heb het mijzelf dus wat makkelijker gemaakt. Wat best moeilijk voor mijn trots is, aangezien het meerendeel van jullie al gewoon klaar is met jullie B.A. Ik dus niet.
Ik zet mijzelf er maar over heen. Hopelijk kan ik in februari doorstromen naar de Master.
Zo blijft mijn leven ook nog een beetje leuk.

En verder...

heb ik leuke vakken (Ac. Research & Writing, Verhaalanalyse), is Weasley net gecastreerd en heb ik het afgelopen zondag onzettend naar mijn zin gehad op de Elf Fantasy Fair (kostuum foto's komen ook binnenkort)!

Kortom dat waren mijn paar weken, die ik al best lang uitstel om behoorlijk aan iedereen mede te delen.

Over the past week I have been living in anticipation of Friday. My parents will pick me up very early in the morning and we'll drive to Poland, probably reaching my grandparents around seven or eight in the evening. I really cannot wait and I have already spent some time thinking of what I should pack. Then I came to the conclusion the term 'casual' cannot be applied to my wardrobe. Skirts and tights it is then ;)

What else have I been up to?

missing an exam because of the mess at Rotterdam/Utrecht CS, need to use the resit for that one. - enjoying the beautiful weather! - work, and enjoying lunch with my mother at a croissanterie in my lunchbreak. our work is next to each other and we have lunchbreaks at the same time! - feeling like partying, hard.. anyone care to join me soon? - buying cute accesoiries like another headband with a bow, lace tights, retro sunglasses.- went to the hairdresser and coloured my hair. it's dark brown with a very deep shade of red. and I have a short fringe again.

Once upon a time...



we watched these Disney films. In one weekend.
And we had a supercalifragalisticexpialidocious time!
We laughed, I cried (during Dumbo ;-;), we ate cakes, caramel apples, chocolate Easter eggs, we drank hot cocoa and wodka and we sang till our little hearts content. But, us being who we are we always managed to highlight some ambiguous or pervy details.

I will post all the pictures another time, but I will share some memorable quotes of the evening:

There already has been some controversy on the creation of this animation, since it is the first time Disney uses a black girl to feature as a princess. Originally, they made her a maid, but pretty soon realised this would cause some unnecessary drama.

I think this could be a wonderful film and cannot wait to see more of princess Tiana and the return of the Disney classic!

Net ging een gesprek tussen mij en Dennis opeens over chipmunks, je weet wel, eekhoorntjes met een kort staartje die in tekenfilms altijd een hoog stemmetje hebben. Toen moest ik plots denken aan de vergane glorie van al de tekenfilms uit mijn jeugd! (En ik keek er véééél!)
Waarom hebben ze zulke dingen niet meer? Didactisch, onderhoudend en getekend ivp met de computer in elkaar gezet. Want zeg zelf, de meeste tekenfilms van nu zijn CRAPPY. Waarschijnlijk hebben we het hier al een keertje op een marathon over gehad, maar hier nog een lijstje met al wat mij te binnen schoot.

Na aanleiding van mijn vorige post: dank jullie wel voor jullie steun en vertrouwen in mij! Ik voel me al een stukje meer gesterkt in mijn keuze, ook door met Dennis en mijn ouders te hebben gebabbeld.

Alleen mijn blaas ziet nog steeds problemen en heeft besloten weer ontstoken te raken; een blaasontsteking... DE DERDE IN EEN JAAR. Dennis heeft het vermoeden dat het waarschijnlijk stress gerelateerd is. Vorige keer had ik een deadline (opdracht van American lit.) dus had ik geen tijd om naar de dokter te gaan ermee. Nu heb ik meteen 's ochtends Den (die ook ziek is, echt, heerst het ofzo?) achter het stuur gezet en zijn we naar de huisarts gereden. Pff blaas, krijg een kuur en laat me met rust!

Toen ik naar de Master voorlichtingsavond was geweest, kwam ik erachter dat toch de Educatieve Master wil doen.
Ik dacht eigenlijk gewoon Westerse literatuur te gaan volgen en daarna misschien, eventueel, als het zou gaan etc. nog voor het leraarschap door te leren. Alleen als je eerst een Master Literatuur haalt en daarna doorstroomt naar het IVLOS, beschik je over vrij weinig mentale voorbereiding. Bovendien zijn de aangeboden vakken van Engels in de Educatieve en Literatuur Master hetzelfde.

Ik ben wel heel bang. Mijn gedachtes over lesgeven zijn gegaan van 'ik wil dat niet' naar 'ik kan dat niet' naar 'misschien als ik wat ouder ben' naar 'waarom niet nu'. Misschien juist omdat ik me eerst er zo heftig tegen af heb gezet, is het eigenlijk, stiekem, diep van binnen wat ik graag wil.
Ik ben heel onzeker en beeld me nog steeds in dat beginnen met lesgeven zal aanvoelen alsof je in een leeuwenkuil wordt gegooid. Ik voel me nog steeds een heel slecht en dom persoon, die niet voor een klas kan staan, waar iedereen een hekel aan heeft, en die zelf niets weet, laat staan dat ze het aan anderen kan overbrengen. Maar ik zou zo graag uiteindelijk een docente Literatuur zijn.
